Like Street food? Then Bowmanville Rotary has the ticket for you at their inaugural Street Eats Festival, being held at the Rickard Centre on June 28 and 29. The outdoor weekend event features food trucks from across the Region, with mouth-watering fare for every taste – from Mexican to Middle Eastern, Greek to good old Canadian and everything in between, while showcasing fabulous local music and family fun that includes face-painting, clowning, balloons, games and even a visit from Spiderman. You’ll also find brews served up by Durham’s own Brock Street Brewery in the beverage tent.
"We love bringing the community together for big events like these," says Doug Sirrs, president of the club, which recently celebrated its 100th birthday.“…Not just to see families having such a great time, but they also generate the funds we need to do the work of Rotary, which is so important. And we thank the community for that!"
“We’re thrilled to be hosting our first-ever Street Eats Party!” says event organizer, Laurie Suikki. “Join us for a one-of-a-kind fundraiser that helps Rotary serve others here in our community and round the world. Let’s celebrate how wonderful our town is!”
With its motto of “Service Above Self”, the Bowmanville Rotary Club is one of more than 46,000 Rotary clubs worldwide with 1.2 million members.
